The trust ledger
Anyone can say they’re insured. This page is the version that’s actually useful: what the cover is, what it excludes, when each thing was last checked, and how to verify all of it yourself before we turn up.
What we're covered for
Four things matter when someone is carrying your belongings or working on your premises. Scroll through ours.
01 / 04
Goods in transit
Up to £10,000 per load
Your belongings, covered while they’re in our vehicle and while we’re loading and unloading. Higher value items can be declared and covered specifically.
02 / 04
Public liability
Up to £1,000,000
Damage to your property or premises while we work — a scuffed stairwell, a caught doorframe. Commercial buildings usually ask for this before we’re allowed on site.
03 / 04
Hire and reward motor
Fully comprehensive
The correct insurance class for carrying goods for payment. Standard van policies don’t cover it, and a surprising number of small operators are running without it.
01 / 04
SEPA waste carrier
Registered · number on request
Legally required to carry waste from a clearance. Verifiable on the public register, and every clearance comes with a waste transfer note.
Compliance checklist
The unglamorous things that decide whether a removals firm is safe to hire. Each one has a review cycle rather than a one-off tick.
Operator licence and vehicle compliance
All vehicles taxed, MOT'd and on a scheduled maintenance plan. Checked monthly
Driver licence checks
DVLA record checked for every driver, including endorsements.
Insurance renewal dates
Goods in transit, public liability and motor all diarised 60 days before expiry.
Waste carrier registration
SEPA registration current, with renewal booked before the expiry date.
Manual handling training
Refresher for everyone on the vans, not just new starters.
PDI vehicle checks
Walk-round check before every job: tyres, lights, straps, ramp and load bed.
Enhanced disclosure for student and domestic moves
PVG checks for crew working in occupied homes and student accommodation.
Dates shown are review cycles, not the last calendar date. Ask us for the current certificate on any line here and we’ll send it — we’d rather you checked than assumed.
Who holds what

Gaps are shown as gaps. Where someone hasn't completed a course yet, they work alongside someone who has — and it's booked. More on the crew on the team page.

What insurance doesn't cover
Worth knowing before the day, rather than discovering it during a claim.
Covered
While your belongings are with us.
- Damage in transit to items we've packed and loaded
- Damage caused by us to your property or premises
- Loss of goods while in our vehicle
- Items stored with us as part of a storage booking
Not covered
Standard exclusions across the industry, not just ours.
- Cash, jewellery, passports and documents — keep these with you
- Items you've packed yourself, where the box is undamaged
- Pre-existing damage or wear noted before loading
- Mechanical or electrical failure with no external damage
- Items above the cover limit not declared in advance
Insurance questions
If yours isn’t here, phone us. We’d rather answer it properly than have you guess.
Can I see your insurance certificates?
Yes. Download the trust pack above, or ask and we’ll email the individual certificates before your job. If a removals firm is reluctant to show you one, that reluctance is the answer to your question.
What if something of mine gets damaged?
Tell us on the day if you can, or as soon as you notice. We’ll look at it, and if it’s our fault we’ll put it right — either directly or through the goods in transit policy. What we won’t do is make you chase us for weeks.
Am I covered if I pack the boxes myself?
Partly. If a box is dropped or crushed, that’s covered. If a box arrives undamaged but something inside broke because of how it was packed, generally it isn’t — that exclusion is standard across the industry. If you’re packing something fragile and valuable, tell us and we’ll repack it or handle it separately.
I'm moving something worth more than £10,000. What then?
Tell us before the job and we’ll arrange specific cover for it. That’s normal for pianos, art, antiques and some instruments. The standard limit is per load, not per item.
How do I check your waste carrier registration?
Ask us for the registration number and search the SEPA public register. It takes about two minutes, and we’d encourage you to do the same for anyone else quoting you for a clearance.
Book with confidence
Ask us for any certificate, registration number or policy detail on this page. It costs nothing and we’d rather you asked.
